Life of Peace
WELCOME!! If you are a guest with us here at Peace Church, welcome! Our prayer is that you find our family of faith warm and welcoming and that you consider joining us again soon. Below are announcements about the many ways we are involved in our community and how we seek to bless it. If you have any questions or want to get involved in anything you read about below, don’t hesitate to ask me or call or text my cell phone at (936) 520-7711. And if there is ever anything at all we can do for you, please just ask. Thanks so much for joining us today! Blessings In Christ, Scott Cummings, Pastor
Mosaic Reminders! First, if you come in late or early and worship is going on, feel free to come on in and go back to a back Sunday School room or just come sit in the cushy arm chairs in the back of the sanctuary. Everyone else, please try and leave those chairs open for early or late-comers and guests! Second, please remind your older children that the nursery is for ages 4 and under during worship. I know the new toys look really fun, but we must only have volunteers who are 13 years and older, adults, and young children in there during worship times. Also, BE CAREFUL WITH SPILLS, SINCE THE FLOOR IS SLICK WHEN WET! Thanks!
PeaceKids Sunday School! We have TWO classes for kids & youth: PreK - 4th grade, and 5th - 12th grade. Elementary Class meets in the larger classroom and the Youth Class meets in the very back room at Mosaic. Your kids will love it and YOU’LL love one of our adult classes below!
Adult Acts Class: The Adult Acts class is studying the book “Fruit of the Spirit: 48 Bible Studies for Individuals or Groups” by Phyllis J. Le Peau, Jack Kuhatschek, Jacalyn Eyre & Stephen Eyre. All are welcome to join the class (Sundays from 10:10 - 11:00) in the sanctuary at Mosaic.
Bible Study Class: The Adult Bible Study Class is reading the book of Revelation. Come join us after the first service! We meet in the kitchen area behind the black curtain.
“APP” SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS: Join the “APP” Class, as in “application”! We’ll look at scriptures from the sermon each week and talk about how to apply them to our lives. Pastor Scott Cummings leads it, so you can just show up! Bring your kids to their classes and enjoy studying God’s Word! Join us on Sunday mornings at 10:15AM in the office of Mosaic.

Simple Discipleship - Current Sermon Series: Growing in faith can feel like a meandering journey- we don’t know what we want, and none of the programs offered by churches seem to get us anywhere. We need something to orient ourselves, something to direct our steps toward a clear destination. Join us as we discover what a new path to grow closer to God looks like based on the book by Dana Allin entitled, “Simple Discipleship.” This sermon series runs from September 8th - October 27th. Please consider taking the online Discipleship 360 Assessment at www.flourishmovement.org/assessments/discipleship-360-assessment/
Treasurer, Elder & 2020 Nominating Committee Member Suggestions: The 2019 Nominating Committee needs your help in getting name suggestions for people to nominate for the 2020 Nominating Committee, next class of ruling elders and a new church treasurer. We’ll be putting the form in the bulletins but you can also submit names to Pastor Scott as well. We still need more suggestions to please turn those in today! Thanks so much for your help.
Wedding Reception for Ianik & Jenny - The Care Team is hosting a wedding reception for the newlyweds on Sunday, October 20th during the Sunday School hour. Everyone is invited to stop by and congratulate Ianik and Jenny (Carns). They do not need anything but if you would like to give them a gift in their honor, the couple requests your gifts be given to the church towards the Vision 2020 Future Fund/Building Fund.
Partnership Renewal Campaign 2019! We are kicking off our Partnership Renewal Campaign and inviting all our members, and those guests who worship with us on a regular basis, to become partners of Peace Church or to renew their partnership from last year. Please determine your time and financial gifts to the church and sign the Partnership Renewal Commitment form. These forms are used to help us all remember that God calls us to so much more than just a financial commitment to our vision. You'll also see a pledge card section at the bottom of the Partnership Renewal form. Please fill it out and tear it off and turn in your card during the offering time on one of our Commitment Sundays, October 20th or October 27th. If you can't be in worship either of those days, please just drop it off or mail it to the church office by October 27th. The rest of the form will be turned in during those services, as well. The top part about committing to living out our vision will be given to Pastor Scott, while the pledge card portion will be kept confidential. We’ll have hard copies available starting October 6th, as well, so you could just pick up one of those instead of printing one. Thanks!
Trunk or Treat Outreach Event: Mark your calendar for our FREE Community Trunk or Treat event on Saturday, October 26th from 3-5pm at Southdown Park. Trunk or treat is a fun and safe alternative to trick-or-treating door-to-door where kids walk around the outside of the parking lot, stopping at cars that have decorated trunks and receive candy. We will also have face painting, crafts station, a prayer station and snowcones. Volunteers are needed and the sign up sheet is on the bulletin board. If you’d like to volunteer as hosting a trunk, please make sure that the theme of your trunk is not scary. Make it fun and festive! If you know of any businesses that would like to sponsor a trunk, please let Beth Croix or Mike Ford, Outreach Elders, know. Children’s costumes are encouraged. To participate in this event, passports will be available at the Registration Table. Join us!
