Life of Peace
WELCOME!! If you are a guest with us here at Peace Church, welcome! Our prayer is that you find our family of faith warm and welcoming and that you consider joining us again soon. Below are announcements about the many ways we are involved in our community and how we seek to bless it. If you have any questions or want to get involved in anything you read about below, don’t hesitate to ask me or call or text my cell phone at (936) 520-7711. And if there is ever anything at all we can do for you, please just ask. Thanks so much for joining us today! Blessings In Christ, Scott Cummings, Pastor
Mosaic Reminders! First, if you come in late or early and worship is going on, feel free to come on in and go back to a back Sunday School room or just come sit in the cushy arm chairs in the back of the sanctuary. Everyone else, please try and leave those chairs open for early or late-comers and guests! Second, please remind your older children that the nursery is for ages 4 and under during worship. I know the new toys look really fun, but we must only have volunteers who are 13 years and older, adults, and young children in there during worship times. Also, BE CAREFUL WITH SPILLS, SINCE THE FLOOR IS SLICK WHEN WET! Thanks!
PeaceKids Sunday School! We have TWO classes for kids & youth: PreK - 4th grade, and 5th - 12th grade. Elementary Class meets in the larger classroom and the Youth Class meets in the very back room at Mosaic. Your kids will love it and YOU’LL love one of our adult classes below!
Adult Acts Class: The Adult Acts class is studying the book “Fruit of the Spirit: 48 Bible Studies for Individuals or Groups” by Phyllis J. Le Peau, Jack Kuhatschek, Jacalyn Eyre & Stephen Eyre. All are welcome to join the class (Sundays from 10:10 - 11:00) in the sanctuary at Mosaic.
Bible Study Class: The Adult Bible Study Class is reading the book of 1 Samuel. Come join us after the first service! We meet in the kitchen area behind the black curtain.
“APP” SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS: Join the “APP” Class, as in “application”! We’ll look at scriptures from the sermon each week and talk about how to apply them to our lives. Pastor Scott Cummings leads it, so you can just show up! Bring your kids to their classes and enjoy studying God’s Word! Join us on Sunday mornings at 10:15AM in the office of Mosaic.
Weeknight Small Group: The Weeknight Small Group has resumed its normal schedule of meeting every other week. Someone hosts the small group at their home, everyone gathers for dinner (hosts provide the main dish, others bring sides, dessert, etc.) and then have a Bible study based on the sermon scriptures from the Sunday before. All are welcome! The next small group meeting is TBD. If you are interested in attending or hosting, let Pastor Scott know!
Tentative Team Meetings: Session: Sunday, Jan.19th at 12:45pm at Mosaic. Stewardship: Sunday, February 9th at 10:15am at Mosaic. Outreach: Monday, February 10th at 6:30pm at the Croix’s home. Future meetings will be announced.

All youth are invited to attend our events! Let Pastor Scott know if you can make it!
New Sermon Series - Christ in Conversations: Discovering the Delights of Spiritual Conversations: New research finds that Christians are less involved in spiritual conversations today then we were 25 years ago. The reality is many of our churches and communities are shrinking instead of growing. What can we do about this? Based on the book, “The Reluctant Witness”, by Don Everts, we’ll explore how we can discover the joy and ease of spiritual conversations and share the love of Jesus along the way. Join us! This sermon series runs from January 5th - February 2nd.
Ladies Brunch! Ladies Brunch will meet on Saturday, February 1st at 11:30am at La Madeleine Restaurant in Pearland (11200 Broadway St, Pearland, TX 77584). All ladies are invited to attend and fellowship!
Souper Bowl of Caring: Peace Church volunteers and friends will hold food drives at Kroger # 308 Shadowcreek Parkway on Saturday, Feb. 1st and Sunday, Feb. 2nd. All proceeds will go to Christian Helping Hands food pantry to help those in need in the greater Pearland area. We need lots of volunteers, adults and youth to participate in these events. Please consider helping out by volunteering and signing up for a 2 hr. shift. A sign up sheet is available on the bulletin board and you can also sign up online at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/409044FAEA72FAAFA7-souper3 or https://bit.ly/2QVXknK. Youth are welcome to participate but must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times for these activities. We will also be taking up a collection for CHH at both services on Sunday, Feb. 2nd.
Second Saturdays for the Arts - February! Our February installment of Second Saturday for the Arts will be a Parents Night Out on Saturday, February 8th from 6-9 p.m. at Mosaic! Parents can bring their kids to Mosaic where Raissa Mathura will have a dance clinic for the kids (dinner for the kids will be provided) and the adults are invited to go to Dimassi's Mediterranean Buffet (3050 Silverlake Village Dr.) for dinner at 6:30pm (or parents can spend the free time as they wish). Then on Sunday, the kids will perform the dance they learned! This event is FREE. Sign up on the bulletin board to RSVP today! AND Mark your calendars for Saturday, March 14th - Drama Night with potluck and another arts and crafts class with potluck in April.
Golf Tournament Fundraiser 2020 - HOSTED BY PEACE FOR PEARLAND: Mark your calendar for this year’s annual charity golf tournament fundraiser on Friday, March 20th at 12 Noon at Pearland Golf Club at Country Place. This year, PEACE FOR PEARLAND, our non-profit for the arts, will be hosting the golf tournament so all donations will be given to Peace for Pearland, and NOT the church. Peace for Pearland will then be able to support church outreach activities and other local organizations. This event is our ONLY FUNDRAISER for the year so we need everyone’s participation! More information to come! For more information, contact Jade, Office Manager & Golf Tournament Chair.
Future Golf Tournament Volunteer Meetings: Sundays, February 2nd, February 23rd, March 8th & March 15th all at 12:45om at Mosaic. Please mark your calendars!
End of Year Giving Statements: 2019 Giving Statements are now available for pick up at church in the big brown accordion folder.
Peace Church Funds Spotlight: Peace Church has various funds that are not part of the regular church budget and occasionally needs the support of members. One of our funds is the Pastor's Discretionary Fund (PDF). It is used to meet critical and immediate needs within the congregation and community, including emergency food, transportation, and other forms of assistance. By allowing the Pastor to use the funds immediately and confidentially, it doesn't require authorization by Stewardship and Session. Currently, the fund is very low. Please consider giving to this fund. Thanks!
New Background Checks: We are looking to run new background checks and get updated volunteer forms on everyone who could possibly be working around kids (VBS, Youth Mission Trip, Nursery/Childcare, Etc.). An email went out to the Congregation with the form attached. Please print, fill out form completely and turn back in to office as soon as possible. Please make sure you include your full name and full birthday. Your form will be kept confidential. There will also be hard copies at Mosaic. You can also turn in your forms to Pastor Scott as well. Thanks!
