Sharing the love of Jesus, growing in faith, serving with our gifts to glorify God
Invitation- We are a church that makes obedience to the Great Commission our PRIMARY goal that pervades everything we do. We are a church that cares more for people who have not yet come to know Christ than for ourselves. We seek to partner locally and globally with evangelistic ministries that build God's Kingdom in transformative ways.
Outreach- We are a church that seeks to share Jesus and serve those in need in every way possible. We seek to obediently serve the last, the least, and the lost. We seek outreach opportunities that build relationships and bless people, body and soul. We humbly seek to spread the good news of Jesus Christ to those who have not yet come to know Him through connecting to a Christian community like our church.
Welcome- We will reach out to those who are guests at our church and encourage them to join in what God is doing in us and through us. We are a church committed to creating a welcoming and hospitable environment for all our guests that join us on Sundays in worship and wherever else we gather. We will not save seats, criticize the attire of others, give rude glances to people who do not look like we do, or neglect to welcome ANYONE who comes to us. We will also seek to welcome people appropriately without being pushy.
Authentic Worship- We are a church committed to offering worship in a variety of styles in order to better facilitate experiencing God and praising Him by all those who gather at our worship services. We do not worship in order to be fed spiritually or because of how it makes us feel, though we celebrate when these things happen. We worship as a response to the amazing blessings God has given to us. We also come to worship to celebrate what God has done in our lives and in the world beyond the church.
Inclusivity- We are a church that desires radical inclusion of people in order to create a body of Christ that reflects the Kingdom of God in its makeup as much as possible. We believe that God loves each of us just as we are.
Growing in Faith
Personal Transformation- We are a church that believes that God loves us all too much to leave us as we are, as scripture makes clear. Just as Jesus told the woman caught in adultery to go and sin no more, so Jesus calls each of us to repent and be transformed by the Holy Spirit. We are a church of changed lives.
City Transformation - We are a church that desires real transformation in our own lives, in our community, in our city, and in our world. We must start with ourselves. So as individuals we commit to charting our own courses of growth led by the Spirit, taking responsibility for our own spiritual development. We affirm that just participating in a program does not guarantee spiritual growth. We are a church focused on developing people, not just running programs.
Authority of Scripture - We are a church that seeks to be obedient to all of scripture as the Word of God breathed by the Spirit. We seek to listen to all scripture and to be guided by the Holy Spirit in our understanding of it and its application to our lives today. We believe scripture is the way that we know who God is and how we are called to live. We believe scripture has the power to transform us to better reflect Christ in how we live.
Community- We are a church that values growing in faith together in groups and also on our own as individual followers of Christ through studying scripture and applying it to our lives. We are a church that expects ALL those who are part of our community of faith (who are physically able) to be engaged in growing in faith in some group beyond just attending worship. We are a church that expects all those that are part of our community of faith to exercise the spiritual disciplines of prayer and scripture reading on our own in addition to when we are together. We will seek the continued growth of all our members and those who have become part of our community and never neglect to care for any people as needs arise. We will keep the "back door" of our church closed to do all we can to keep people from slipping away from the church.
Serving with our Gifts
Wise & Biblical Stewardship- We commit to using our resources to glorify God. We will not do something just because other churches do it. We commit to never using our resources to copy another church that appears to be successful, though we seek to learn from others as much as we can. We seek to be faithful with what God has entrusted to us, not just successful. We commit to the wise use of the resources of time and treasure in order to serve Christ, rather than provide comfort to ourselves. We will allow the needs of people in our community to outweigh our own preferences. We commit our building to God's use as we partner with other organizations to share space. We believe this is the best stewardship of what God has entrusted to our care and will hold to this belief as we grow.
Partnership- We commit to partnering with other churches in accomplishing God's will, rather than competing for attendance or participation. We will seek to grow God's Kingdom, not our own. We will stay focused on the Kingdom of God and not on just growing a bigger church. We believe that if we are faithful in building the Kingdom, God will bless us with growth as a church. We commit to partnering with community organizations to make our city a better place. We will build relationships with organizations that seek to serve the needs of our community and we will support them in every way that we can.
Humble Service- We commit as members of our community of faith to be engaged in using the gifts for mission and ministry God has given each of us for God's purposes. Those gifts will be used inside and outside the church. We expect each of us who has made a public commitment to our community of faith to be serving in some way, inside and outside the church, because we see that as the heart of what it means to follow Christ.
Generous Giving- We commit to giving generously of ourselves as individuals, seeking the goal of giving at least 10 percent of whatever we have been given (money, time, and ability) to God, perhaps more if we have been especially blessed. As individuals we commit to making giving in this way a priority as part of our life as followers of Christ. As a church we commit to giving much beyond this level to mission beyond our walls.
